Join us for a vibrant and mindful afternoon of Indian folk art with Mugdha, founder of Art Sutra Studio. In this beginner-friendly session, you will learn and create a Gond-style bird painting on canvas through a hands-on experience accompanied by delicious vegan chai and snacks as you learn more about indigenous tribal art and create your very own piece to take home!

Originating from central India, this style of art is practiced by the Gond community and is deeply inspired by nature and mythology. They are known for their vibrant colours, intricate patterns, and stylised animal and bird shapes. In this workshop, you will focus on a bird form—a popular subject in Gond art—and explore pattern-making using lines, dots, and curves to bring it to life.

Your instructor, Mugdha Martin, is a fine artist who divides her time between her home town of Pune in India and Hamburg. She specialises in illustrations, Indian folk art, stamp design and creative journalling. All materials will be provided.
